Community InvolvementAll the Signs of a Perfect Partnership / Partnership honors kids doing well in classroom All the Signs of a Perfect Partnership
In a partnership each side benefits equally. Re/MAX Metro Properties owned by Tim Teas, located in Corpus Christi, has proven the true meaning of partnership with the 657 new partners he has made. He has joined hands as a school partner with the children at Robert Wilson Elementary School. The latest, most visible sign of this healthy partnership can be easily seen while driving through neighborhoods surrounding Robert Wilson elementary School. In front of 35 student's homes, there are red, white and blue (Robert Wilson and RE/MAX colors) "Student of the Week" signs, provided by RE/MAX Metro Properties.Every week for the next 25 weeks, one child from each of the 35 classrooms will be designated by their teacher as the "Student of the Week." The students are given a sign to place in their yards, honoring their special title. Also, during the week the children will have the opportunity to share with classmates all about themselves and their families."We feel this is a wonderful way to encourage positive self-esteem with our children. We have been looking for a School Partner who would help us with this program, and we found RE/MAX Metro Properties," Says Lisa Mock, Robert Wilson Elementary School Principal.Teas has participated in other Robert Wilson school projects since last spring. Teas, along with three other school partners did something never done at Robert Wilson Elementary School. The school partners sent the entire fourth grade class (90 kids) to Austin, to see the legislature in action. The trip, coordinated through Rep. Vilma Luna's office, gave the children an inside look at how state government works. While in Austin, the students observed the Senate in session, met and then were photographed with Speaker of the House, Pete Laney. A special tour of the Capital was also enjoyed along with a luncheon, courtesy of Kentucky Fried Chicken of Corpus Christi. The students also received a flag that had flown over the Capital, to fly at Robert Wilson Elementary School. In September, Teas' perfect partnership generosity was again demonstrated. He approached the school about creating a commercial for RE/MAX Metro Properties to air locally. The fifth graders took on the challenge by writing, acting and producing the 30-second spot for RE/MAX that is currently being aired. The Robert Wilson fifth graders were well-prepared, because starting in first grade, students begin learning broadcasting, journalism, photography and advertising. Fifth grade gives them the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge."I know Robert Wilson's special emphasis was communication and that the school had its own television station, KIDZ, run by kids. So I asked them if the students could produce a television commercial for RE/MAX," stated Teas."This is what being a school partner is all about. Mr. Teas, is definitely a risk taker and he continues to take risks with us that turn out to be incredible opportunities for these children. We appreciate him, RE/MAX, and all they have done and continue to do as one of our school partners," said Principal Mock. For more information about Teas' involvement in the community and Robert Wilson Elementary School, contact his office at (361) 994-9393 or RE/MAX Metro Properties, 5890 Everhart, Corpus Christi, Texas, 78413This article came out of the 1999 Winter Issue of RE/MAX of Texas Reporter, written by Kristin Smalley.Another Article by RE/MAX International Partnership honors kids doing well in classroomCorpus Christi, Texas - Tim Teas Broker/Owner of RE/MAX metro properties, added quite a few partners last year - 657 to be exact. They are the children at Robert Wilson Elementary School, and signs - literally - of the partnership are evident as you drive through the neighborhoods of Morningside, Lindale, Pope Place and Lamar Park. Each week 35 students - the designated Students of the Week in each of the school's 35 classes - get to put a red-over-white-over-blue signs in their front yards. The signs, which resemble RE/MAX yard sign and at the same time promote the school's colors, proclaim the achievement."This is a wonderful way to encourage self-esteem in our children," says Lisa Mock, principal at Robert Wilson. |
